EL PASO, TX — Family and friends are mourning the loss of 13-year-old Cassaundra Holt. A memorial was held at Desert View Middle School on Tuesday for students of the school.
Students, teachers and family members packed the school's gym to honor 13-year-old Cassaundra Holt.
A sight that up-lifted Cassaundra's family even for a few minutes.
"It makes me feel good because my baby was good and she had a lot of friends," said father Raymond Holt.
"It is the most amazing thing that I've seen. It is the most amazing thing," said grandmother Cassaundra Holt.
Cassaundra died at home last Thursday along with her mother, Marysol Saldivar and her mother's boyfriend Eric De Santiago. Two of the murder victims had stab wounds.
Cassaundra's friends showed everyone a slide show of her pictures and they played several videos of Cassaundra dancing and singing in her bedroom.
"Today I thoroughly enjoyed the students the outpouring of love from the school. I was for the first time really light-hearted,” said grandmother Cassaundra Holt. "I got to laugh for the first time in a long time."
Students created a mural to honor Cassaundra and write notes to her. One student wrote, “Gone to soon. You will be forever in our hearts.”
“She was beautiful and her laugh, it was amazing,” said friend Vivian Wilson. “She was really funny and she was really nice."
"She was a very sweet girl, very graceful, never ever talked about nobody," said friend Destiny Feliciano.
"She just had that sweet smile all the time, she was always happy, anytime you saw her," said Principal Michelle Kehrwald.
It has been a hard time for Cassaundra's family members.
Luis Javier Solis-Gonzalez, Saldivar's estranged husband is charged with capital murder.
"My heart is broke, my heart is broke so bad, so bad, we go to keep moving," said father Raymond Holt. “It takes a lot for me to forgive this guy, takes a lot."
There will be a memorial service for Cassaundra at Sunset Funeral Home at 4631 Hondo Pass from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday. Her funeral is at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church at 9491 Railroad at 11 a.m. Friday.
