Thursday, March 10, 2011 - 12:58am

Senior pitcher Courtney Auger posted 11 strikeouts as the Miners fell to the NM State Aggies on Wednesday afternoon at the Aggie Softball Complex in Las Cruces, NM.

Auger threw the complete game against the Aggies allowing just four hits through six innings pitched falling to 5-5 for the season.

The Miners also recorded four hits against Aggie pitcher Alex Newman who improved to 11-1 in 2011.

With two outs on the board in the bottom of the fourth, Vanessa Valles hit a solo home run to put NM State up 1-0. That would be all the Aggies needed to take the season sweep from the Miners following an 8-6 victory on Feb. 24.

UTEP will head east to Orlando, Fla., to kick off Conference USA competition against the Golden Knights with a three-game series beginning Saturday.
