EL PASO — The University of Texas at El Paso will kick off its second season of “Movies on the Lawn” with a screening of Disney’s The Lion King starting at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, on the lawn in front of the Geological Sciences Building.
Families are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the free films on the inflatable 16-foot by 9-foot screen during the eight-week series that will continue with Jumanji (June 14), FerrisBueller’s Day Off (June 21), Nacho Libre (June 28), Up (July 5), The Sandlot (July 12), The Wizard of Oz (July 19) and Back to the Future (July 26). Organizers cautioned that films are subject to change.
The University will present a short video trailer before each movie to promote UTEP’s upcoming Centennial Celebration in 2014.
Free parking will be available in the Sun Bowl ParkingGarage after 7 p.m. on movie nights. Refreshments will be sold at the orange Pete on Wheels cart on University Avenue, and portable restrooms will be located nearby.
