LAS CRUCES-- A Las Cruces man is facing criminal charges after he drove into the passenger-side doors of another vehicle -- slamming a door shut on a passenger.
Caleb David Roth, 21, of the 200 block of Desert Roth Ct., is charged with one count of aggravated battery causing bodily harm.
LCPD said Roth woke up Monday morning and found that his gray Toyota pickup had been egged. Roth believed someone from his apartment complex was responsible because he had previously complained about loud or excessive noise coming from a neighboring apartment.
LCPD detectives said Roth confronted a man who was loading items into a Ford pickup and asked if he knew who may be responsible for egging his truck. LCPD said the man --who is the husband of the injured victim-- told Roth he did not know.
Later, police said Roth got into his truck and drove out of the parking lot, hitting two passenger-side doors of a Ford pickup that was parked along the curb.
The 22-year-old female victim was sitting in the front passenger seat with her feet sticking out. When Roth's truck hit the doors, the passenger-side door slammed against the woman's feet. Family members took the woman to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said Roth drove off without stopping and went to a car wash where he cleaned his pickup.
Officer took Roth into custody when he got back to his apartment, and took him to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
