ROME, ITALY— The Italian Prime Minister is in hot water Tuesday after prosecutors on Monday revealed new evidence against him.
Italian prosecutors released wiretap evidence on Monday in which a teenage Moroccan belly dancer was allegedly paid for sex by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. The girl was also told by Berlusconi to keep the affair quiet. Paying for sex with a minor carries a jail term of up to three years in Italy.
Berlusconi could also face up to 12 years in prison after he is alleged to have abused his power to get the teen out of an unrelated run-in with Milan police.
The Italian Prime Minister has denied doing anything wrong, and has also said that he has been in a steady relationship for a while.
