Illegal B-12 Injections Lead to Infection, Charges

EL PASO — A woman required major medical surgery after developing a severe deep tissue infection in the buttocks caused by an illegal care plan for her anemia.

Angela Martinez, 72, was arrested and charged for practicing medicine without a license and claiming to be a nurse. Martinez administered a care plan to the victim that required numerous B-12 injections to the buttocks and resulted in Necrotizing Fasciitis.

She has been charged with three counts of Practicing Medicine without a license and one count of Criminal Penalties for Additional Harm. Martinez turned herself into police and was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $110,000.00.
