Former Housing Authority Director Charged with Fraud

The former executive director of the El Easo Housing Authority has been arrested for fraud.

The FBI says Thomas Rodriguez, Sr. was arrested earlier this week. He allegedly took more than $5,000 in funds that meant for the housing authority and spent them on apartments he owns in Fabens. The FBI says it all happened between March 2006 and February 2008.

The FBI also says he paid a housing authority employee to do work at those apartments.

If convicted Rodriguez could get up to ten years in prison.
