Ukraine looked to have scored in the 62nd minute, but the ball was cleared off the line by England defender John Terry, but it had looked to have already crossed the goaline. The referee did not allow the goal, and England's score from Wayne Rooney held up in a 1-0 victory.
In Kyiv, Ukraine, Sweden defeated France, 2-0, but the result did not matter. France advanced to the Quarterfinals of Euro 2012, which begin on Thursday. In the Quarterfinals, the Czech Republic will face Portugal on Thursday, then on Friday, Germany will face Greece, on Saturday, defending champion Spain will meet France, while England will face Italy on Sunday.
