EL PASO (KDBC) — Police were investigating a deadly accident in Northeast El Paso. A driver hit a pole, bending the car in half.
Police said the man lost control and crashed into the pole on Dyer and Alps just after 2 a.m. Friday. They said speed contributed to the accident. Police said the driver was the only person inside the car.
Special Traffic Investigators were there for several hours looking into what happened.
They closed Dyer from Alps to Maxwell, which is right next to H.R. Moye Elementary.
"Based on the timeframe that we're giving, two to three more hours should clear the area up before school starts, assuming school starts between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m., but employees that may have to come in early, such as custodial staff or cafeteria staff, they’re just going to have to find an alternate route," said Mike Baranyay.
