Dozens of local leaders placed behind bars

More than 100 local leaders were behind bars today, but before you get any ideas, they did it for a good cause. They are participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association's lock-up fundraiser.

Volunteers raise money for their "bail" by encouraging people to make donations to MDA that will benefit families in the El Paso. MDA "jailbirds" included Grisel Arizpe of El Paso Water Utilities, Dean Inniss of Rocky Mountain Mortgage Company, and Oscar Macias of Winton Homes.

"Seventy-seven cents of every dollar does stay local. It's given to services, clinic visits. One of the biggest things we have coming up is the MDA summer camp for our kids, which will start at the end of July," said Kathleen Born, the Executive Director of the El Paso MDA.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency that helps fund worldwide research on the disease.
