Doña Ana County, NM (KDBC) — The Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office (DASO) is warning the public of a phone scam.
On Friday, a woman told investigators she got a call from a man claiming to be a deputy.
She said he told her there was a warrant for her arrest and that she could get the warrant cleared by paying a fine over the phone with a debit or credit card.
DASO says it doesn't notify anybody of warrants or accept payments over the phone.
Investigators say it's dangerous to give personal or financial information over the phone to anybody you don't know.
