DMV Moves Toward an Electronic System

Tuesday, August 14, 2012 - 20:19

If you're planning a trip the Department of Motor Vehicles, listen up. You'll now need to bring a photo ID with you the first time you register a car. The new rule takes effect September 3rd, and only applies to first time titling and registrations. The new rule is the first of several changes planned for the coming years to try and create more electronic services for customers. Next year Texans can expect to see paper titles replaced by electronic titles. That means you'll no longer have to keep track of your title. The change is also expected to reduce title fraud.
