EL PASO — El Paso City Manager Joyce Wilson will not face charges, despite allegations that she used city tax dollars to "deceive" voters about the downtown baseball stadium.
In October, El Paso Lawyer Raymundo Rojas filed a criminal complaint against Wilson, as well as the City of El Paso, after the ballpark ballot initiative was posted on the City of El Paso website.
Rojas claimed it violated state law.
District Attorney Jaime Esparza disagreed, and decided to officially close the case.
Wilson responded in a statement:
"I am pleased to have final closure on this matter, it is damaging to my reputation. With all change comes conflict and every major change initiative has had similar conflicts. The difference this time is the level of personal attacks and false public allegations that have the potential to compromise the community's confidence in its local government."
