Deputies Crackdown On Drunk Drivers

Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 20:48

The El Paso Sheriff's Office is putting extra patrol cars on the road looking for drunk drivers.

The annual Labor day crackdown on DWI offenders begins Sunday and continues through September 5.

A grant from TxDOT pays for all the extra time that deputies will spend looking for drunk drivers.

Last year, deputies drove 335 hours more than their regular schedule and that's credited for 17 DWI arrests during the crackdown.
