EL PASO — Del Valle High school administrators Thursday morning reported a suspicious substance brought into the school, resulting in immediate evacuation of students. Ysleta Independent School District officials said a teacher had opened her personnel mail and found a substance she felt should be investigated.

Fire and HAZMAT crews were on scene and took the substance in for investigation, to later determine it was not harmful. El Paso Fire Deparment Spokesperson George De la Torre explained the white powdery substance was only the residue of paper processing.

School was not cancelled. Campus received the all clear at 11:33 a.m. by the El Paso Fire Department and students are in the process of returning to class.

All students were accounted for and were safe.
