Investigators with the Las Cruces Police Department need help locating a driver who may have witnessed a serious crash Tuesday afternoon that critically injured a 19-year-old man.

LCPD say that the crash happened at 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Telshor Blvd and Mall Dr. in Las Cruces. The investigation revealed that the 19-year-old driver of a 2003 Chevolet Cavalier was facing east on Mall Dr. attempting to turnnorth onto Telshor when he was struck by a 2008 Hummer H2 that was traveling south on Telshor Blvd.

The 19-year-old driver of the Cavalier was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces and later airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso with life-threatening internal injuries.

The 32-year-old driver of the Hummer and her passenger were not injured in the crash.

LCPD believe that a third vehicle was behind the Cavalier at the time of the crash, and stopped to render aid but left the scene prior to being interviewed by the traffic investigators at the scene. Police are now trying to locate that witness so traffic investigators can complete their investigation.

If you know who the witness to this crash was, you can call LCPD at (575) 528-4200.
