EL PASO TX — El Paso County Commissioners are putting the brakes, again, on awarding a contract to renovate the county's sports park.
The county originally agreed to award the contract to FT James, the lowest bidder, but County Judge Veronica Escobar says the presentation by the public works and purchasing departments earlier this month didn't include nine "Alternates" or wish list items in their base bid; items like canopies, bleachers, and fences.
Those items sent the company's cost from $6.5 Million to more than $7 Million; commissioners rescinded the contract.
Another company, Sunlight, stepped in and said they had the lowest bid.
The Procurement Review Panel, again, recommended FT James
Now, commissioners want the public works department to break down the costs, alternates included, between the two companies.
We should know those numbers at next week's meeting on August 27.
