CLINT, TX — It was a somber day for the Socorro Independent School District, as many learned for the first time abot the death of a 10-year old student Sunday night.
The girl was one of eight people inside a Chevy Tahoe as it traveled off-road in the Clint pit, a popular 4-wheeler area with steep sandy cliffs. Somehow, the suv tipped over and rolled to the bottom of the pit, where the little girl died at the scene.
Socorro Independent School District sent counselors to Escontrias Elementary Monday, and also visited the girl's family at their home.
"Extend our hand just let them know whatever their needs might be let them know we're there to provide whatever help and services we can," said Pat O'Neil, SISD Assistant Superintendent. "You know it's a tough time for everybody especially that family"
The 4-wheel trucks were back as usual Monday driving up and down the Clint pit.Tune in to our newscasts at 5 and 6pm where we speak with District Attorney Jaime Esparza, about whether the girls parents, who were in the front of the SUV, could be held responsible for their child's death.
