El Paso - - The El Paso City Council has passed a resolution decrying the cartel violence in Juarez that has claimed thousands of lives.
Mayor John Cook cast the deciding vote against an initial resolution calling for a discussion on legalizing marijuana as a way to drive the cartels out of business.
With marijuana language out of the final resolution, the measure passed.
El Paso has a sister city relationship with Juarez.
The City Council recognized that the relationship is strained by the thousands of murders in Juarez every year.

They are FINALLY making a resolution???? AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!! How long has the violence been going on? Years? We're just now making a resolution decrying the violence? Man-o-man, I thought the courts were slow, but they don't hold a candle to the mindset of our current city council. As far as calling Juarez our "sister city" I say severe that thinking.
I am a resident of Las Cruces and I already AVOID going to Juarez due to the violence and what I perceive as a TOTAL lack of safety. If the El Paso city council legalizes marijuana I WILL ADD EL PASO TO MY LIST OF PLACES NOT TO GO!!!
That may be the most STUPID idea they have ever had!
