EL PASO -- More soccer fields in Central El Paso could soon be a possibility after City Council voted Tuesday to approve allocating $5 million in the upcoming bond election.
The city says they can build up to six soccer fields scattered throughout Central El Paso.
City reps say there are more than 13,000 per field in that part of town, compared to about 1,200 in the Northwest.
"One of the reasons for lack of participation in the central area is lack of facilities," said a soccer coach during the meeting.
The overall bond would be increased by $4.6 million because there is $400,000 that can be allocated toward adding more fields.
The issue will be placed on the November ballot.
