The hope of finding work drew dozens of El Pasoans to a job fair today, hosted by Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande in Downtown.
The organization hosted the job fair for anyone looking to work in construction for R&M Construction Company.
R&M is hiring General Laborers and currently have 19 openings for the position. Pay starts at $9 an hour.
The company also has 2 openings for the Construction Foreman position, and pay for that job starts at $12 an hour.
While most attendees at today's job fair have been looking for work for quite awhile, people we spoke with remained optimistic and appeared confident that they would soon find a job.
"I've been out of work for about a year now. I'm looking at several agencies and trying to find a job and so far, this seems like this is a good paying job that might be here for the long run. Honestly, I would say that I'm the hardest working person here, by far, no doubt about it," said Aaron Flores.
Candidates for these construction positions must pass a background check and a drug screening.
Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande is accepting applications for the construction positions until Tuesday. You can submit an application to their Downtown office at 300 E. Main Street, Suite 800.
Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande is hosting another job fair at that same Downtown location next Friday for anyone looking for a job in the health care industry.
