EL PASO — A press conference Thursday morning celebrated the 22nd anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act and discussed a series of local lawsuits violating that act.
The suits are a part of the Civil Rights Project's annual campaign commemorating the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, passed July 26, 1990. The campaign includes lawsuits throughout the state.
Despite the passage of the ADA, members of various local advocacy groups said many businesses continue to discriminate against people with disabilities - nearly a quarter of El Paso's population.
Tune in at 5:30 and 10 p.m. for video of the press conference.
