The man who transformed the way people interact with computers by inventing the mouse has died.

Douglas Engelbart's first prototype for the mouse featured a wooden block, wheels and a tiny red button.

A radar tech during World War II, Engelbert first dreamed up the mouse while working at the Stanford Research Institute in the 1960's.

He died Tuesday night at his home in Atherton, California.

He was 88.
