EL PASO — Brace yourself for change. A cold front is knocking on our door. The Borderland is about to see it's coldest temperatures of the fall season so far. The cold front hit states like Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming earlier this week, dropping close to a foot of snow it some places. It then moved south into Colorado where snow plows were out in full force today. New Mexico and the Borderland are next in line. Temperatures will approach freezing in some parts of the Borderland Friday night, although no snow is expected.
Here's a few tips to consider as the cold front moves in. Dress in layers to stay warm. Check all heating appliances like furnaces, water heaters, and wood stoves to make sure they're functioning properly. Prepare an emergency kit for your vehicle, containing blankets, water, and warm clothes. Also, bring your pets indoors at night when temperatures approach freezing.
