Clint fire destroys home

Wednesday, January 16, 2013 - 7:11am

A Clint family is trying to pick up the pieces after an overnight fire ripped through their home causing some serious, irreparable damage.

Deputies say they received the call about smoke coming from the home's attic around 11:45 Tuesday night. They say the first report was the fire was coming from the attic area of the home, but it's still unclear where the fire originated.

Fire crews from San Elizario, Clint, and Fabens were on scene battling the blaze. Luckily, the fire did not spread to any nearby homes. We also spoke with neighbor's who say they know the family and they were concerned about them because they were inside when the fire started.

"They were home but they did come out. Everyone's OK. They're staying with the family that lives behind them. Everyone's OK, thank God," Richard Sanchez said. Sanchez is neighbor's with the family.

Sanchez added the family of seven is fine and no one was hurt. He says he heard the fire may have been caused by a heater but officials have not confirmed.
