Class upgrade for Westside fire department could lower insurance premiums

Home insurance will drop down for several homeowners in the borderland.

The West Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. received a Class 2 rating, which is an upgrade from their previous Class 4 rating.

These ratings are then given to insurance companies, and they use this information to determine what to charge home and business owners for their property insurance.

Going from a Class 4 to a Class 2 will further reduce the insurance premiums by an average of ten percent for homeowners, and an average of twelve percent for business owners.
