City releases personal emails of council members

Tuesday, September 17, 2013 - 10:15pm

Almost 200 pages of emails from the personal accounts of current and former El Paso city council members were released today. The emails were posted on the city's website after a long fight over whether or not they should be released.

The city sued Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott after he ordered their release in response to a Texas Public Information Act request. Opponents of a new Triple A baseball stadium had alleged that backdoor dealings were taking place between council members via personal email.
