El Paso, TX (KDBC) — The city of El paso is upgrading parking meters in the downtown area with high-tech meters.
The city expects this will make paying for on-street parking more convenient because the meters will accept coins, dollar bills, debit or credit cards.
There are about 2,000 parking meters in El Paso, most of which are in downtown.
The project should be completed sometime in October 2013.
The upgrade will cost the city about $1 million dollars and was funded through the city's general fund.
