Christopher Tappin Pleads Guilty To Aiding And Abetting

The British businessman accused of trying to buy missile parts from undercover agents and resell them to Iran pleaded guilty today in a deal that could carry nearly three years in prison.
66 year-old Christopher Tappin pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the illegal export of defense articles today in the El Paso Federal Court.
Tappin was involved in a deal that would have shipped batteries from the U.S.. to the U.K.., which later would have been re-directed to Iran.
The deal calls for 33 months in prison, a near $12,000 fine, but prosecutors have agreed not to oppose his request to be transferred back to the U.K..
A judge will sentence him on January 9.
