While the El Paso Chihuahuas are still basking in the glow of Opening Night followed by three games of full-house crowds at Southwest University Park, they are also preparing for an exciting series against the Sacramento River Cats beginning this weekend that coincides with busy nights in Downtown El Paso. As they’ve done so well all week, fans are encouraged to continue planning ahead as they make their way to the ballpark for the games on Friday and Saturday night.

“We are thrilled with the reception the team has received this week as we opened the gates to Southwest University Park,” said Brad Taylor, General Manager of the El Paso Chihuahuas. “We set the stage for sellout games and prepared for every component of game day operations, both inside and outside the ballpark. I’m confident that our staff’s management of logistics has been successful.”

Evident all week has been the significant parking supply in Downtown, with over 6,200 public parking spaces within a six-block radius of Southwest University Park. The El Paso Chihuahuas website hosts a map of parking opportunities at meters, surface lots, and in parking garages. The map includes directional traffic flow and ADA-accessible entrances and general drop-off zones. In addition, both an ingress and egress map are available, with preferred access routes to and from the ballpark, for fans from all over El Paso. Sun Metro’s services have been well utilized for the first four games and they will continue to run Park+Ride Service through the game on Monday, May 5th. Round-trip Park+Ride Service for $3 (ages 5 and under are free) is available from several locations around town to Southwest University Park. Park+Ride schedules can be viewed here.

With several events scheduled Downtown this Friday and Saturday night and extended closures of Interstate 10 (click here for details), officials are strongly suggesting that fans make a plan. They should Park+Ride with Sun Metro, use alternate routes, or arrive Downtown early enough to secure parking and enjoy what Downtown has to offer before the gates open at Southwest University Park.

Tickets are still available for the remainder of the first homestand and can be purchased online at epchihuahuas.com.
