Centennial earns Student Government of the Year

Centennial High School was chosen as the Gold Student Government of the Year at the New Mexico Association of Student Councils (NMASC) State Conference at Española Valley High School February 13-15, 2014, said CHS teacher and student council adviser Melanie Stuart.

"I am beyond proud of the student government at CHS for becoming student government of the year after only our second year in existence. These students have gone far and above to create stepping stones for future Hawks by creating pride and tradition," said Stuart.

Twenty-one members of Centennial student government attended the state conference, joining more than 1,000 students representing high schools from all over the state.

The state conference consists of keynote speakers, state elections, awards and competitions, adviser recognition, student lead workshops, collaboration among students in the planning of the their school events, community services and leadership opportunities, said Stuart.
