CBP extends lane hours at El Paso international bridges for Easter weekend

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is expanding its "All Lanes Open" initiative at El Paso's international bridges for Easter weekend.

On Saturday, April 19, all vehicle lanes at the Paso Del Norte Bridge (PDN) and Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) will be open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, all vehicle lanes will be open at PDN and the Ysleta Port of Entry from 10 a.m. until midnight, and at BOTA from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

"The Easter and Holy Week period is historically one of the busiest travel periods at southwest border crossings," said Hector Mancha, CBP El Paso Port Director. "Through this joint effort we expect to successfully manage the anticipated traffic surge."

CBP is also reminding travelers that there are steps they can take to speed the Holy Week cross border travels.

The most important step is being fully prepared for the inspection process by being ready to present entry documents to the CBP officer at the primary inspection. Being prepared to declare all items acquired abroad will also help.

CBP is also reminding travelers that travelers can legally import up to 10 cascarones, but they must be completely clean and be presented for inspection. The colorful confetti-filled eggshells are a concern because they may introduce Exotic Newcastle's disease to the U.S. poultry industry.

Violators are subject fines.
