The Canutillo Independent School District hosted a town hall meeting today and parents got an important update on their next potential superintendent.
Former Superintendent Damon Murphy was fired in December, after an audit by the Texas Education Agency described cheating within the district, including passing students from the 10th to 11th grades despite their limited proficiency in English.
The District leadership allegedly shuffled students so that the District could slip past federal education standards.
It happened during Former Superintendent Damon Murphy's tenure and that's what led to today's meeting, where parents learned the 3 finalists for the superintendent's job are listed on the District website.
No word yet on when Canutillo will make a final selection for a new superintendent.
