The Canutillo Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday could ask state legislators to focus their efforts at improving practices and procedures at the Texas Education Agency, rather than creating legislation board members said specifically targets school-board members in El Paso County.
The District self-reported when the possibility of assessment abnormalities arose, and since then officials said they have been working diligently on an improvement plan that will further strengthen the policies and procedures aimed at proving fair and transparent testing of all students.
In several official communications to federal lawmakers and education authorities from May and June of this year, CISD Trustees have called for inquiries into TEA practices related to Out-Of-Country Transfer Student Credit, and what those practices may have done to facilitate testing and grade irregularities in some districts dating back more than a decade.
The CISD Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the CISD Central Offices, 7965 Artcraft Rd.
