CHAPARRAL, NM — A12 year-old boy from Chaparral is hospitalized after being mauled by a pack of a dogs. It happened Sunday on Moon View Road. Dona Ana County Sheriff's investigators say the boy was walking home from a friend's house when he was attacked by five German Shepherds. Neighbors heard the boy screaming for help and rushed to the rescue, but not before he was bitten more than 50 times.
"He's really bad. He's really cut up on his back,under his right arm, on his legs. We talked to him. He said he's really in bad pain," said Corrina Sanchez, the victim's relative.
Family members say the boy is expected to be hospitalized for about two weeks. He's in stable condition at an El Paso hospital. Charges are pending against the owner of the dogs.
