EL PASO - An annual conference at UTEP is focusing on border violence and intelligence this week.
The conference is hosted by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Last year's topic was about security in the middle east, but this year coordinator Mark Gorman says the violence in Mexico is not only a topical discussion, but a necessary one.
"Our goal is basically start a discussion, a collaborative discussion, so they understand some of the issues better but to also look at it from different perspectives," Gorman said.
The conference continues tomorrow and registration is free. It's taking place in the El Paso Natural Gas Conference Center on Wiggins.
