EL PASO — The county has taken its first steps to make the lives of the disabled easier.
Improvements at Ascarate Park were unveiled Friday, including improved sidewalks, trails, accessible picnic tables and handrails along bridges.
County Judge Veronica Escobar said the county still has to meet ADA requirements at several other of their buildings.
"We've got a long road ahead of us, and we've got to make investments in the courthouse, the MDR, every other building and asset that we own, so that everyone can have access to county government and county assets," Escobar said.
The county is right now also installing an accessible playground and will have accessible port-o-potties when needed.
