Workers at the Plaza Theater are setting up for a show this Saturday, hoping the emotional quality of opera will touch a note in the audience's hearts.

The El Paso Opera is working in conjuction with the "Amor Por Juarez" campaign to raise awareness for the violence across the border.

Artistic director David Grabarkewitz says opera has been used since the days of Mozart to convey a political message, and hopes that people attending will get more than entertainment out of Saturday's show.

"I think that bringing back the dignity of Juarez is very important to El Paso itself," he said. "We are two cities, not one, and we have to pay attention to that."

The event also takes place on September 11th, where they will also honor those who lost their lives to the attacks.

Tickets are $25 and they do expect to be sold out by Saturday.
