Man arrested in connection to Wal-mart armed robbery

UPDATE: Police arrested a man they suspect of committing an armed robbery at a Las Cruces Wal-mart.

Brandon Armando Herrera-Lozoya, 19, is charged with one count each of armed robbery, tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.

 

Las Cruces Police are looking for new details in a shoplifting case that quickly turned into an armed robbery.  It happened at about 11:30 Tuesday morning at the Wal-mart at 571 Walton Blvd. in Las Cruces.

A Wal-mart loss prevention officer approached a man who was suspected of leaving the store without paying for electronics.  The loss prevention officer was on the phone with a 9-1-1 operator when approaching the suspect.  That's when the suspect pulled out a gun and threatened the officer.

The suspect is accused of stealing the officer's cell phone and leaving in a white minivan.
