A blast of arctic continues to be a concern for residents throughout much of the mid-west and eastern part of United States, with temperatures like 24 below zero in Maine and 33 below in North Dakota.

In Erie, Pennsylvania they received 16 inches of snow earlier this week and extreme wind chills.
The freezing temperatures even caused problems for firefighters in Chicago who struggled to put out a blaze when water from their hoses turned to ice.
