The rumor mill is buzzing with speculation that a partnership between Apple and Nike is in the works. Nike's announcement Friday that it's laying off some of the team responsible for the Fuelband is only stirring up more speculation.
The Fuelband is a wristband that measures physical activity. Apple has not yet entered the wearable tech field -- but rumors of an "iwatch" have been swirling for years.
Nnow, speculation has turned to Nike phasing out Fuelband hardware updates to support a possible Apple-Nike wearable product. Neither Nike nor Apple replied to CNN's messages seeking comment about the rumors, but Nike told tech blog Re-code that it remains committed to the fuel line of fitness products.
