Anthony, NM (KDBC) — The heavy rains caused some major damage to residential streets in Anthony, NM on Thursday. The flooding was so bad on 4th and Putter Circle that the city had to pump the water out and into a nearby retention pond. The Mayor said there is no natural way for the water to flow to the pond so that's why workers had to pump the water out manually.
We spoke with one young woman who was angry at the situation, especially because she could not drive to her own home and had to hitch a ride with one of the city employees to enter her house.
"I'm shocked. I'm really shocked," Milse Anaya of Anthony, NM told us. "Yeah, it's always like that. That is when it rains, it's like flooded."
The Mayor of Anthony, NM has advised residents to avoid flooded areas. He also said, they have limited manpower and are working to drain most of the flooding throughout Anthony. They have asked the City of Las Cruces for help.
