Anthony Mayor-Elect Says Infrastructure is Top Priority For City

ANTHONY, NM – Considering all the drama stemming from the mayoral race in Sunland Park, New Mexico, the contest in Anthony, New Mexico, went a lot smoother.

Today, the city's mayor gave his final state of the city address, where he spoke about all the work that needs to be done in Anthony.

Mayor Ramon Gonzales is passing the torch to Arnulfo Castañeda, who said improving the city's infrastructure is his top priority.

"There's always challenges in a town like Anthony. We need a lot of infrastructure. We need a lot of after-school programs and trying to find funding for all those. I'm sure it'll be a challenge,” said Mayor-Elect Arnulfo Castañeda.

"He's going to fulfill those obligations. He's very good, he's very honest, and he'll listen to the people...I'm very happy that he won,” said Mayor Ramon Gonzales.

Castañeda is expected to take office on Monday.
