EL PASO — Customs and Border Protection agents say they found nearly 20 pounds of liquid methamphetamine Thursday night, as a truck tried to cross the border into the United States.
It's the second time agents say they have encountered the drug at a local port of entry in a week.
Juan Manuel Mancilla Martinez, 23, of El Paso, was attempting to cross the Ysleta International Bridge in his 1999 Dodge Durango when a CBP agent chose him for secondary inspection.
Officers believed something about the seats to be suspicious, and called in a drug-sniffing dog, which alerted officers the presence of drugs.
U.S. HSI agents arrested him for the alleged smuggling attempt.
Last Thursday, CBP officers arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of smuggling 26 pounds of liquid meth.
