El Paso, TX (KDBC) — A suspected drunk driver allegedly crashed a pickup truck through the rock wall of an East El Paso home, and into the shed in the backyard.
The crash happened at 1:05 a.m. Friday along Turner Dr. near Nolan Richardson Dr.
A woman who lives inside the home did not want to go on camera, but said she had just arrived home from work and was getting ready to go to sleep when she heard the commotion outside. She said she looked out the window and saw the driver running away from the truck and into her neighbor's backyard.
A short time later, a woman claiming to be the driver's aunt said she had recently purchased the pickup for her 21-year-old nephew. The aunt reportedly told police her nephew had arrived home and appeared to be intoxicated.
El Paso Police did not confirm if the driver was intoxicated, or if he will face any charges.
Neighbors said accidents are common in that area. In June of last year, an alleged drunk driver lost control at the same intersection and crashed into a palm tree and a power pole, knocking both of them onto the street.
The neighbor who lives next door to Friday's crash said a driver crashed into the rock wall in his backyard last year as well.
No one was injured in Friday's crash.
The woman who lives in the home said she was most concerned about her puppy that usually sleeps near the shed because she had not seen it since the crash.
