EL PASO — Monday marked the beginning of week two in the corruptoin trial of Chilo Madrid, the man accused of taking part in a scheme that defrauded a county program out of more than half a million dollars.
Madrid is the former CEO of Aviliane Inc. He was working for the non-profit when he allegedly masterminded a sceme that defrauded the Border Children's Mental Health collaborative out of money.
Monday morning, Jose Soria took the stand. Soria is a senior employee at Aliviane, and last week he too was accused in court of bribing a judge as part of the Madrid's scheme.
Lawyers questioned Soria about contracts and work performed by the non-profit, and about questionable invoices that were submitted by Aviliane.
Soria is not facing charges.
Madrid's trial continues Tuesday.
