Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande has been notified by the state that the Xerox call center facility will be laying off 439 employees beginning September 6, 2013. 51 employees were terminated today as a direct result of these layoffs. Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande has been working with Xerox since last week to help these employees transition into new positions.

Our rapid response team was at the facility this morning discussing plans for hosting a job fair at the site to get these employees hired after they are laid off with no period of unemployment. This call center facility primarily does work for Sprint.

Xerox has notified the state of these layoffs and they say they are due to a change in business conditions. “We are confident we have positions for these employees and are working closely with Xerox to help these employees,” said Lorenzo Reyes, Jr. CEO of Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande.

The Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande’s mission it to provide skilled workers for employers by advancing education, employment, entrepreneurship and economic development opportunities.
