Cleveland, OH — An Ohio man has been charged with murder in another case involving the disappearance of women in the Cleveland area.
35 year-old Michael Madison, an ex-con and registered sex offender, was formally charged Monday with the murder of three woman.
After complaints over the weekend of foul odors coming from abandoned homes in the neighborhood where Madison lived, police searches turned up the bodies of three black females.
Because of his criminal past, Madison was the chief suspect and was taken into custody after a brief standoff with police.
The judge at his first court appearance Monday said the charges include three counts of aggravated murder.
East Cleveland's mayor says Madison told police he was influenced by serial killer Anthony Sowell who was sentenced to death for killing 11 women and burying their bodies around his home in Cleveland in 2009.
