Football season is ending and so are counterfeit NFL merchandise sales after a federal sting.
Homeland Security Investigations conducted operation "Team Player", which ended in the seizure of more than $100,000 worth of sports memorabilia including t-shirts, jerseys and hats in El Paso County.
All items were seized before hitting the streets of El Paso. Authorities are warning El Pasoans to check merchandise before they buy it to make sure it's legit.
"They need to look at the stitching of the product, they need to look at the tags, were it's made. A lot of the stuff will have a UPC code that's a good way to tell also a lot of the products that are counterfeit there is no UPC code," said Dennis A. Ulrich of HSI.
Most of the counterfeit merchandise seizures happened at transportation hubs.
