More than 100 Fort Bliss soldiers of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC) will deploy Thursday in a first-of-its-kind mission.

As Local 4 News has reported, soldiers will be operating the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System (THAAD), which is designed to shoot down enemy missiles should North Korea decide to attack regional allies of the United States.

It's the first time the THAAD will be deployed for a mission.
